The cost of the expeditions are determined by the Building Hope Abroad Board of Directors annually based upon the costs of acquiring land, building materials and participants expenses. For 2023, Students are $850 and Adults are $1,000.00. Discounts available for families of 6 or more. Included in this are all meals and accommodations during the build. You are responsible for your travel cost to and from the jobsite.
Building Hope Abroad Foundation has no affiliation with any religion. However, due to the strong christian faith of the participants, the foundation is centered in the principle to "Love One Another." This is accomplished and demonstrated by showing our love through service.
Over the years, we have hosted a wide range of age groups, including teenagers, college students,families, couples, older adults and seniors. There is no age limit to our programs! If traveling with a parent or guardian, there is no age restriction. Teenagers, between the ages of 16-18 who wish to travel independently will be required to provide a parental or guardian consent plus two character reference letters in order to participate.
Building Hope Abroad strictly adheres to a non-discrimination policy of not denying any person access to, or participation in or the benefits of, or be discriminated against in any service, program, course or facility on the basis of race, color, creed, religion, age, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, national origin, ancestry, disability, pregnancy, marital or parental status, physical condition or developmental disability.
Volunteers will only be advised against participating on a volunteer program if it poses a risk to their safety as a result of local cultural attitudes or if the physical environment and/or program activities are not suitable for the volunteer based on the information they have provided to us.
We also expect our volunteers to abide by this non-discrimination policy and accept that any evidence of discrimination in any form will result in instant dismissal from the program with no refund.
The beauty of building our homes is that no construction background is necessary as long as you are willing to learn and apply what you have learned. Our staff are also volunteers and expected to work alongside you. For your safety and the safety of others, it is very important that instructions are followed and the rules of the job site are respected.

After you have submitted your application to volunteer with Building Hope Abroad, we will review your details to confirm there is availability and verify the program is suitable for you. We will then accept you into the program and a member of our Board will connect with you to answer any questions and welcome you to the expedition. The next step after this will be for you to complete your registration by paying your registration Fee. Prior to leaving, the expedition volunteers will meet to review travel requirements and brief upon the specific details of the expedition.
